Day 17/31

Welcome to those of you who are just joining in! Many of us started this journey on March 1st, but people have joined almost daily since then.  It is pretty amazing!

Today, I am reminded that “We wrestle not against flesh and blood…”  Can I just tell you that this has been tough for me.  Not sure if its the timing as I am dealing with lots of other things right now, including the fact that my mom’s birthday (she died just over a year ago) is March 29th, so that has been on my mind.  I have several speaking engagements coming up, so lots of prep. going into those.  I don’t know, I have just found it hard to stay focused and really give this the time and energy it deserves.  BUT, if the Lord spares my life, I’ll start afresh……AGAIN and give the last two weeks a real push.  Because no matter what the “reason,” the real reason is that we are not wrestling against anything except Satan and his sorry angels.  Remember, 1/3 went with Satan, that means 2/3 are still with God. The numbers don’t really matter, cause with GOD on our side we ARE the majority anyway.  It’s still nice to know that the good angels outnumber the bad by 2 to 1 :)  Okay, I am encouraging myself!

Is anyone else finding this hard or is it just me???

Please share what is working and what isn’t?  Have you told your husband that you are doing this?

Alrighty, I am leaving the computer to go and spend some time PRAYING for my husband!

Blessings to you as you journey………Please share

Day 16/31

“Pray that your husband will choose healthy, God-honoring activities.  Pray that he will not live in bondage to any questionable habits or hobbies, but that he will experience freedom in holiness as he yields to the Spirit’s control. (1 Cor.6:12, 10:31, 2 Tim 2:4)

My question is this, do you support your husband’s pursuit of sports, hobbies, etc.?

I know guy time is important and I know that he likes sports.  I understant the sports he watches, so its not THAT bad, but I have too much to do to sit in front of the TV and watch an entire football game (or 3) on a Sunday afternoon.  I like basketball, but I really am not that interested to sit and watch a whole game.  I am not big on TV, so its not like I want to watch something else.  AND my husband folds laundry while he watches sports, so it WORKS well for me :) My guy also plays golf when the weather is good.  He doesn’t really have other hobbies……

So, is there a way we can support theme choosing, “healthy, God-honoring activities.?” or even find a way to JOIN IN.

What do  you think?

Day 11/31

Man, I can’t believe we are just a few days from halfway through this thing.  The time is really flying.

Okay, have you seen the book called, “For Women Only?” Here’s something interesting.  “Your Love is Not Enough.”  She goes on to talk about why RESPECT is more important to men than affection.  Get this, “Men would rather feel alone and unloved than inadequate and disrespected.”  That is according to a survey of 400 men across the United States.

So, ladies, even our “suggestions” can be perceived as being disrespectful.  Our “reminders” can make them feel disrespected. So, let’s keep at this work that we have started and even when it gets tough remeber that the God who began this perfect work in us is FAITHFUL and He will complete it!

I’m curious.  Has your husband noticed any changes? Has he responded? If so, how? Has he asked you any questions?  Let us know how its going!

Day 7/31

Okay, its Friday! and we have been at this for a few days now. Some 7-8  days and some are just joining.  So, what it been like? Are you falling off the wagon and not really praying as you should? Are you staying POSITIVE? Has your DH (dear husband) noticed anything or asked you any questions?  I’m STILL away and having trouble getting quality time (with God and my husband), but I plan to have a come to Jesus meeting TODAY :)

“May God Himself, the God of peace sanctify you through and through, may your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

I pray that you have an awesome, peaceful weekend. Take time to connect with your husband.

Here’s the question. What does “connection” mean to you?

Day 6/31

Is it me?????  I was in the mall the other day (not something I do often, just not into the shopping thing) and happened to walk past Victoria’s Secret. Is it me or is there something WRONG with HUGE pictures of women clad only in their underware?  I mean, i know that’s what they sell, but we all know that, so why must there be a larger than life photo of a woman with only bra and  underware (and skimpy at that?). Not to mention that she has not a spot or a blemish…..or an OUNCE of body fat.

Anyway, those images do nothing for me, but I am sure our guys wouldn’t say the same.  So, we really have to either keep them prayed up or locked up :) Evil is so prevalent in this world, so ladies, from sexual temptation to honesty at work and in business dealilngs, let’s just encourage them and pray their for their STRENGTH.

Question for you?  Do you think its important to look good when you are “just” at  home or when (if you stay home) your husband gets home? And what does “good”  mean to you?

How to Comment

By the way, I’ve gotten a few questions regarding how to leave a comment.  Depending on how it shows on your computer, you can click on the small green comments button just under this message (it will either say no comments or give the amount of comments there are for that particular entry), on that page just under the comments, if there are any, ill be a box that says reply and you just write in the box.  If all else fails, just send me an email and I will post your comment for you.  Keep reading and please share.

One more thing on the comments, the comments are filed under the day that they were entered, so if you want to follow the whole conversation about what looking good means and if it’s important then you’ll have to go back to day 6 to read the comments.

Well, I haven’t said or though ONE negative word to or about my husband today, but now I’m getting out of bed so it could get tricky :)

Day 4/31

How time flies when you are having “fun!”  What an experience this has been.  I am somewhere between Barbara and Gina.  My husband knows a little something, but not the full scope of the prayer focus.  The interesting thing is that HE IS BEING NICER.  Not that he isn’t nice usually, because he is.  But it seems like he is making an effort.  Maybe its really me and my attitude. I dont’ know.  Anyway, its interesteing, we’ll see what happens as time goes on.

My challenge has been that I am r-e-a-l-l-y busy these days and have not been able to give prayer the time I should.  We are still out of town and getting quiet time in a hotel room with two children is next to impossible.  Of course, its a ploy of the devil to distract me from the work at hand, so i am going to determine to MAKE time, if I have to lock myself in the bathroom :)

Ladies, whatever it is (your attitude, your schedule, your worries) don’t allow it to steal from this precious time.  Even though I am guilty, in the whole scheme of life, I really can’t figure what is any MORE important than intereceeding for my husband.

So, I encourage you to keep praying, don’t give up, don’t get tired and kepe your eyes on God.  He’s gonna do something awesome!

31 Days of Prayer for your Husband      30 Day Challenge   Just in case you misplace your 30 Day Challenge and Prayer information.  I am posting it here.  This should also make it easier if you invite someone else to join. They can just get the info from the site instead of you trying to find the attachments, etc.  I am also including a link to Nancy Leigh DeMoss’ site, www.reviveourhearts.com, which is where the challenge came from originally.

Day 3/31

Well, its day 3.  And I am so excited about this.  Lots of people are reading this site even if only a few of us are commenting for now.  I get several emails a day as people are STILL joining us for this journey.  I just can’t wait to see how God is going to restore and rebuild.  He promises to restore the years that the locusts have eaten (I guess we can translate that as the years we have wasted being negative and not as supportive as we could/should have been). I know that in some cases we feel justified, but in truth there is never justification for treating one of God’s children with anything except the greatest amount of love and respect.

I was reading a book a while ago, I’ll post the title and the title later.  But the premise was a question, “What if God created marriage, not only for our pleasure, but to make us HOLY and to SAVE us?”  The book also challenged the reader to consier God as her (in our case) Father-in-law. Hmmm, interesting.  Would you relate to your husband differently if you daily considered that GOD is his father and your father-in-law?

Well, as for the gift, I picked up a golf related item (and a cd for another time).  We are out of town, so the gift basket won’t work, but I am definitley going to do that one some time during the course of this month.

So, how goes it with you?  have you told your husband you are praying for him?

Last thing for now.  Please say a prayer and share a note of encouragement for the many who are really struggling with this for one reason or another.  Like I said before, feel free to comment  using a pseudonym.

Last thing, for real.  Start thinking of good marriage related books you have read, we’ll post them all in one section for the growth and edification of us all.

Have an awesome day!

Day 2/31

Okay, you won’t believe this. I went to church and the Pastor was beginning a series on marriage. It was AWESOME and perfectly in line with the goals for the first day of our prayers.  The pastor ended the sermon by calling his family forward and declaring the Joshua 24:15 text, which ends, “…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  Can I tell you that my husband sensed what was coming, told my son to put his Bible, etc. down and before the pastor could get the sentence out of his mouth for MEN to stand up, be accountable and say with him and with Joshua, “as for me and my house.” we were standing up and walking down the aisle. We almost beat the pastors’ family :) There were two women from the church who are also participating in the challenge and they too were amazed at how God orchestrated the whole thing.  It was a pretty amazing experience to watch so many men stand up and declare we WILL serve the Lord.

Okay, so how’s it going with you?  C’mon, I know its early, but I also know that the God we serve was just waiting for us to start seriously praying so he could pour out the blessings, so do share.

Did you give your husband a little gift as was suggested?  If so, what did you get/do?  I didn’t, but today, I am going to get something.  He’s tough to buy for, so I’ll take any ideas.  I thought of a music or sermon CD/DVD, shirt/tie (i know, kind of boring), something related to golf as the season is coming soon.

Well, ladies, keep praying and let us know how its going with you.  Just click on the reply link and share your thoughts.

Day 1/31

Hello and welcome to Marriage Makeover 101.  As we enter this special time of praying for our husbands, I thought it would be pretty cool to have a place where we can encourage each other along the way.  There are days that it will be pretty easy to be positive and uplifting and there will probably be days that we’ll want to switch from 30 days of prayer to just a moment to give him a piece of our minds.

I am SURE that the Lord is going to do awesome and amazing things.  He has already done at least one in my life.  He woke me up at 3am and I have not been able to sleep since then.  Its now 5:47am.  When I wake up like that I always ask the Lord to tell me for whom I should be praying, after a few names flitted through my mind, he told me I should be praying for my husband, so I layed there and started to pray, fully expecting to fall back asleep. Instead, the Lord told me to get up, grab my Bible and go and PRAY.  So, I obeyed (reluctantly). I got out my Bible and my 30 day guidelines and began to pray.  The time was a blessing.

So, how was your day 1? Are you looking for a special and specific blessing?  Has God done anything for you?  Are you setting aside a special time during the day to pray?  Let’s talk and encourage each other.  You may also put your prayer requests here as well. And if you have special thought or verse that you would like to share feel free, this is the place!

One more thing, you are welcome to comment anonymously, but it would be great if you could put the reigon of the United States or the country you are writing from.

God’s Absolute Richest to you as you begin this journey!
